I’m just now delving into the nitty-gritty of the new build, but so far, so good. And with more than a few WP installs strewn across my hosting package, I can’t wait to figure out how to be able to manage all of them under one central umbrella account.

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since I last updated this blog, but that just goes to show how busy things have been around these parts. Things are chugging along quite nicely, with another major project under my belt, but a busy schedule has resulted in one media casualty, one which I move slightly away from with a heavy heart.

During the summer months last year, I was contracted to work for the fine folks at No Mimes Media for a project they were working on for Cisco. Yes, that Cisco. Needless to say, when the opportunity came around to work with No Mimes on such a large-scale production, I jumped at it. I was tasked with puzzle development, primarily, although I did get to provide feedback on some story elements as well. Under the guidance of the masterful Steve Peters, the design was set up to capture the attention of the Cisco work force worldwide, and from all indications (including this one) it was a rousing success. I hope that Steve and his crew reach out this way the next time they need elements for a transmedia project.

Speaking of Steve, did you know that he is the new host of the ARG Netcast? Yes, it’s true — after more than three years of hosting, editing and publishing the podcast, I decided in February to take a step back from contributing regularly to the series. It was an excellent experience and I am really happy that the netcasts will continue with a new host at the helm, and perhaps in the future I will be able to sit in on an episode or two. Digital Trail will continue to host the web site and the audio files, so there shouldn’t be an interruption of service for the foreseeable future.

Aside from the transmedia aspect of this company, I’ve been busy working for local clients on the maintenance of office systems and the deployment of web sites. My friends at G&M Livestock, and their sister company G&B Logistics, now have a dedicated web site for each of their businesses, and I’ve run around from house to house to help clients with virus removal and hardware upgrades. Yes, it’s not glamorous work, but it’s important for my clients to be able to have functional, virus-free computers for their day-to-day routines, and I love being able to help them out when they need it. Speaking of which, if you haven’t installed version 5 of the free antivirus Avast yet, it’s the one I’m recommending to all of my clients — the paid version is well worth the price as well.

So, here’s hoping that more news will come sooner than later, and that I remember to update this site on a more regular basis.

It’s been a couple of days since Digital Trail has been alive and kicking, and while I’m still busy moving some of the chess pieces around, the various parts of my digital existence are slowly but surely coming together. The idea for this new company came about a few weeks ago when I was struggling with a decision of whether or not to continue working on a web site I have been a part of for five years, and this became the first domino in a chain of events that hasn’t completely played out yet. Some of those events haven’t been made public, so I’m not ready to get into specifics, but here are the basics:

Domino 1: Deciding to ‘retire’ from one particular (and significant) part of my life. This meant finding a replacement and letting others know of my decision. This still requires some sort of public statement, which is coming soon.
Domino 2: Finishing up my commitments related to ARGFest-o-Con 2009, which I have helped plan for the past twelve months. This was a major part of my life for the past month, which
Domino 3: Wanting a new image and name for Northtech Computers, a company I created in 2006.

So that brings me to Digital Trail, which I like because it is more representative of the kind of work I normally do for clients — creating or maintaining digital trails for their audiences. This site represents an entirely new chapter of my life, but I’d like to think of it as a chapter in the middle of my story. I’ve enjoyed the chapters that came before this one, and hope that the chapters that follow are just as entertaining and enriching.
